A/N: This is comment fic inspired by 7ofeleven 's icon in a comment on nikki4noo 's journal (read her new entry! Just not at work!), and the susbequent prompt. Darn you enabling woman xD. Un-betaed, and no, I don't own them ... *sighs* Title taken from the Corrs' "Hopelessly addicted" :D

It’s not like Jim doesn’t appreciate Gaila – her tongue is fantastic, she’s intelligent and witty, an outsider just like him, and she doesn’t care for his “man-whore” image. Someone made the mistake of calling him that in front of her, and she verbally ripped them apart piece by whimpering piece, explaining that because Jim actually considers his body’s wellbeing and his mental health, and because he enjoys a perfectly normal act, it does not mean that he is a man-whore, he is merely sensible and giving.

When they kiss its like fireworks go off in a trail leading from his mouth to his pelvis, and when they get involved in a discussion about how to correctly engineer a solution to the firewall coding that Starfleet needs desperately to fix, it sets off fireworks in his brain at her passionate explanation of the coding involved in such an operation.

She’ll laugh at his jokes because they’re funny, not because he’s the one telling them, she’ll smile and hug him when he’s down because they’re friends, not because she’s a sucker for a broken heart, and she’ll fangirl over the discovery of a new sub-routine that’ll revolutionise firewall coding – leading them both to getting a verbal pat on the back from Starfleet as they present their solution in the middle of First year.

It’s just … she’s got an impeccable Terran Standard accent, not a slow drawl that slurs together when she gets frustrated or sad or plain tired when she comes off shift at the Medical Centre. She’s beautiful, not handsome. She’s small and perfect, not tall and with a slight paunch that is quickly disappearing due to the constant running from the Medical Centre to class to dorm back to surgery to bar to home to class to start this all again. She has a fear of small spaces due to being crammed in a box for the journey from Orion to Earth, not a fear of ‘dying in something that flies’ due to the accident that caused her quirk in the eyebrow and the death of her mother. She lives in the moment because it’s better than the past, not the past because it’s better than the moment.

When she moves underneath him – or on top, or to the side, or away as he watches, they’re not fussy as long as they both enjoy the experience – she pants and laughs with pure joyful abandon, not moaning with blown pupils and dark drawl that promises sex and angst in equal measure. When she comes, it’s with an indrawn breath that hitches her body higher as Jim watches with pleasure, not an explosion of swearing that breaks off as her body abruptly stills in amazement that this has happened.

It’s not like Jim doesn’t appreciate Gaila, but she’s not Bones.
