A/N: Un-betaed, for the prompt challenge over at jim_and_bones  of "insubordination". Greatly influenced by the events tonight (well, the tone is anyway), try and guess whether it's Jim or Leonard speaking :D

Dear Admiralty,

 

Fuck you.

 

Oh, sorry Admirals, I should be more polite.

 

Fuck you sir.

 

How dare you do this to my ship, my crew? The crew of the Enterprise are the best at what they do – we have people from every field that would be welcomed with opened arms at top universities across the Federation and outside to research and teach, we have the finest minds of the age on board and you dare to say that we are unsatisfactory? You DARE to say that they are unable to be regarded at the top of their field, because they have not got the necessary life experience? You sit in your offices, doing nothing but drink and devise never-ending ways to make paperwork more complicated, and you think you are an expert on the crews who are out risking their necks every day for you?

 

I am the one who has to tell their families that they didn’t make it home, because some stupid fucking Admirals decided to set them exercises in order to test their abilities. I am the one who has to write the letters telling them of their deaths and how they died. I am the one who worries day in day out for my crew because they are my family – an annoying family, a family that make me want to scream in frustration, but they are my family, NOT yours. You have NO right to tell them that they are useless, inadequate, not worthy of your respect.

 

Quite frankly, I don’t care if this means that I get removed from the Enterprise, that I get court-martialed. Let me tell you this, Admirals¸ you can fucking try it.

 

Seriously, go on, try removing me from the Enterprise, and see where it gets you. Oh wait, nowhere. Call me insubordinate, say I have no respect for the chain of command, I don’t care. If having no respect for the chain of command means that my crew stay alive, then I don’t, and I never will.

Thankyou! The best thing about those two is that they are incredibly protective over their family - if anyone hurts them they'll visit a world of pain on them, regardless of who they are :)

I wasn't sure, until this, an annoying family, a family that make me want to scream in frustration, and then I knew it had to be Bones! That's just such a Bones thing to say and I can totally see him losing it and going after the Admirals like this.

I honestly thought this was Jim's voice, when I started reading, and I got the signature and I then realized that while both of them are fiercely protective of their family, the one that I would hesitate to piss off would be McCoy.
